ACTIVITIES

1. A lecture entitled "Why I Have Become a Muslim" was held on March 2, 2000, in the Kansas City Public Library.  A guest speaker introduced to the audience basic tenets of Islam and two American Muslims shared their personal reasons for embracing Islam.  Presentations were followed by questions and answers.

2. Copies of the English translation of the Qur'an and Islamic books have been donated to area public libraries.

3. A lecture entitled "Why Is Islam Spreading So Fast In America?" was held on October 26, 2000 on the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A panel of American Muslims of various ethnic backgrounds explained the reasons behind this phenomenon and shared their personal experiences as converts to Islam.

4. A lecture entitled "Women's Rights: A Call From Concerned Muslim Women" was held on November 16, 2000, 7-9 p.m. on the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A panel of American Muslim women spoke about the status of women in Islam and their superior rights. Speakers also shed light on how embracing Islam has become an urgent need for western women in order to protect themselves and their rights in society.

5. A campaign inviting residents of Kansas City to Islam has been initiated in 2001 in local newspapers, as well as by direct mailing and distribution of "da’awa" material in public places.

6. Two scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year have been awarded to students from the Islamic School of Louisville, KY, USA.

7. Two lectures on the "History of African American Muslims" and "African American Muslim Women" were delivered on February 19th, and 20th, 2002, on the Campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, as a part of the African American Month Campus Celebration.

8. Three scholarships for the 2002-2003 academic year have been awarded to students from the Toledo Islamic Academy, Toledo, OH, USA.
